Elvis in a similar Army outfit |
Let me start out by saying that when I was growing up I was
not a Elvis Fan.
I met Elvis in Germany, while in the Army. I was in the artillery
and we were out on maneuvers or practice range.
I was driving for our battalion commander, he was in a meeting
with the other Commander's as it was raining so hard I couldn't see 3 feet past
the front end of the Jeep that I was driving. Someone slapped the side of
the jeep and opened the door and asked if he could get in (he had on a Poncho
with the hood up) I said, sure.
He asked if I had a smoke, sure I said, but it's a Pall Mall.
He said, that okay I don't inhale the smoke, I just like to blow rings and
we both laughed. I knew the voice but couldn't place it. When he dropped
the Hood on the Poncho I almost passed out as it was Elvis.
We talked for about 45 minutes, about everything I could
think of, which wasn't much. He he, talk about being tongue tied. Anyway,
by the time the rain had almost stopped he said he had to get back to drive
his commander and said he'd see me sometime. Yeah, right! Like I hang out
with the same people that he does. I then became a FAN of Elvis Presley's,
I have everyone of his songs.
Three years later I was in the Navy stationed in Long Beach,
California. I was in Hollywood in a restaurant when I heard someone call my
name. I looked around and I'll be dammed if Elvis wasn't in the restaurant.
Over 3 years after spending less then a hour talking to him, he remembered
me. I couldn't believe it. What a super guy. Sometimes when I think about
meeting Elvis or talking to someone about it, I get chills or the hair on
the back of my neck stands up.

My Many Meetings with Ted Nugent –
When I worked as Secretary in the Concord Middle
School, Ted (Motor City Mad Man) Nugent’s son attended the Concord Schools. At that time, the Nugent’s lived outside
of Concord.
Ted and his wife came into the office several
times needing help or questions answered.
I had several conversations with both of them and helped them when they needed it. Their son attended 6th
and 7th Grades.
Several times Ted would do a music program
for our students and he also played his guitar at the football games.
After those years, they moved to Crawford,
TX because the house in MI was full of mold and they were all getting sick. The house has been torn down.
